Why Now??????

On The Real Imma Keep it 100..........

So like many other blacks in America, last night I watched CNN's report/special on Black America and I have to say it fell way short of my expectations. There were many times throughout the show where it seemed forced and failed to really talk about whats going on in Black America. This felt like a attempt from white America to try to educate white America more on black America. Since there is a high chance we will be having a black president for the next 4 years (god -willing), CNN seemed to try to capitalize on this historic year be showing us how it is to live black in America. The fact is the fear factor will sink in for millions of white Americans the closer and closer we get to the election day that the nation will actually not be lead by someone that looks like them. I felt this show was created out of the fear of the unknown and for most whites in America, black America is just that. Whites can never imagine what life would be like being black for a day yet alone a lifetime. Blacks still only make up 13% of America so why now do we get this special two part series????? The truth lies deeper then what we see. Of course I'm happy this is being aired but its seems to me that a lot of blacks are too excited to see how CNN depicts how they have been living their entire lives. If there is anything that can be taken from this show, you can see that there is no typical black person in America. However, there are typical stories and situations that all black people face regardless of class, region in America, religion, etc; they call all tell you about when they first realized that they were Black in America.

And that's that...........
