Today In Black History...

On this day in 1891 North Carolina A&T University, Delaware State University, and West Virgina State University were established. A&T was known as The Agricultural and Mechanical College for the Colored Race back in 1891. In 1967, the college gained university status and was changed to North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Delaware State went by The State College for Colored Students when it was first established. In 1944 it became Delaware State College and in 1993 it took on its current name as Delaware State University. WVSU was established as the West Virginia Colored Institute and later became West Virgina State College in 1929. WVSU gained full university status in 2004.
