Today In Black History: Red Foxx
On this date in 1922 John Elroy Sanford was born in St. Louis, Missouri. Sanford is known by most by his stage name Red Foxx. Red was a legend on the stand up circuit but is most famous for his TV show Sanford and Son. A little known fact about Foxx is that in the 1940s, he was an associate of Malcolm Little who would later become Malcolm X. In Malcolm's autobiography, Foxx is referred to as "Chicago Red, the funniest dishwasher on this earth."
