Today In Black History......

Today in 1964, Dr. Martin L. King, Jr was announced as the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for his civil rights activities. King was the second African American to win the Peace Prize. At the time he was the youngest person to ever receive the award.

On this date in 1966, the Black Panther Party (BPP) was founded. It was a black political organization; originally known as the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense. The BPP originated in Oakland, California, by founders, Huey Newton, and Bobby Seale.
