On this date in 1920 Zeta Phi Beta Sorority was founded on Howard University. It was first incorporated on March 30, 1923 in Washington D.C. by sorority members Myrtle Tyler, Gladys Warrington, Joanna Houston, Josephine Johnson and O. Goldia Smith In 1948, Zeta Phi Beta became the first Greek-letter organization to charter a chapter in Africa (in Monrovia, Liberia).
