Today In Black History...

On this date in 1962 the first Black American coached in major league baseball. John “Buck” O’Neil started managing the Chicago Cubs on this date and would go on to be a part of the MLB until 1988. In his later years he became a popular and renowned speaker and interview subject, helping to renew widespread interest in the Negro leagues.
