Bahamian Independence Day.

On this date in 1973 the Bahamas gained full independece from Great Britain. In 1964, The Islands of the Bahamas were given limited self government by Great Britain. A Commonwealth began in 1969. Then, finally, on July 10th, 1973 the Bahamas became an independent nation.
