And He Was Ordained...

On this date in 1948 Martin Luther King Jr was ordained as a Baptist minister. At that time he served as assistant to his father at Ebenezer Baptist Church. King would go on to become pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama when he was twenty-five years old in 1954. Martin was the son, grandson and great-grandson of black Southern Baptist preachers.
