Darryl Strawberry was born in Los Angeles on this date in 1962. Strawberry was drafted first overall in the 1980 by the New York Mets. He would go on to win the National League Rookie of the Year in 1983 and make his first of 8 all-star appearances the following year. As great as he was off the field, he was better known for his for his controversial behavior off of it. Like Richard Pryor Said " Cocaine is a hell of a drug".
