Today In Black History: Florida Freedom Fighters
On this date in 1951 the home of Florida NAACP official, Harry T. Moore, was bombed. It was the Moores' twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. Harry died on the way to the hospital and his wife died from her injuries nine days later.. Five years later, to the day, Birmingham, AL, protest leader the Rev. Fred L. Shuttlesworth's home was bombed.
