YEBies Birthday: Cab Calloway

On this date in 1907 Cabell "Cab" Calloway III was born in Rochester,NY. Calloway was a great bandleader and the first jazz singer to sell a million records. Calloway was a master of scat singing. Calloway's band featured performers including trumpeters Dizzy Gillespie and Adolphus "Doc" Cheatham, saxophonists Ben Webster and Leon "Chu" Berry, New Orleans guitar ace Danny Barker, and bassist Milt Hinton.
